Members
Studio Junkies has no user accounts and no login form, on purpose. There is nothing behind a login that is worth hiding, and every account system we could build here would be a security liability rather than a feature.
Membership is therefore just a mailing list — and it is a short one.
What membership gets you
- A short email when something new is published. A tutorial, a correction, a new download. A few times a month at most.
- Early access to new tutorials, with the chance to tell us what is unclear while we are still writing.
- Your questions answered. Send in a question that is not covered here and we will either answer it or write it up as a tutorial.
- A say in what gets written next. If several people ask about the same thing, it goes to the top of the list.
That is the entire list. No member-only downloads, no gated content, no badge for your profile, no "premium" tier.
How to join
Email members@studiojunkies.com with the subject line Join. That is all it takes. We will add you to the list and send one email to confirm.
To leave, reply to any email from us with the word leave, and we will remove you the same day.
We do not sell or share the list, we do not run tracking on this site, and we do not send anything that is not about recording music at home.
What we are working on
- A microphone placement guide with photographs for each source we cover.
- Printable mixing reference sheets to sit beside the desk.
- Recording on a phone, for people who have no budget at all yet.
- A guide to latency, expanded from the section in the interface tutorial.
- Corrections to the existing tutorials as readers send them in.
If you want to influence the order, write and tell us what you are stuck on. That is genuinely the most useful thing you can send.
Contact
- Questions, corrections, ideas: email hello@studiojunkies.com.
- Membership: email members@studiojunkies.com.
- Broken links and typos: email hello@studiojunkies.com with the page address. We will fix them.
We read everything. We do not always answer quickly, and we will not pretend to.
About this site
Studio Junkies started in 2007 as a collection of home recording tutorials and has been revived as a plain, fast site: no adverts, no tracking scripts, no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
Everything is written from experience with the actual mistakes — the hum that came from a laptop on the wrong power adapter, the vocal ruined by a foam windscreen, the interface that could not drive the headphones it came with. If we recommend something, it is because it worked.
The site is built by AntzCode, and runs on plain PHP with no database, no framework and no tracking of any kind.
If you only ever read one page on this site, read start your home studio. Everything else follows from it.
